How do I activate PRIVATE WiFi Mobile by AOL?

To activate PRIVATE WiFi Mobile on your device:

1. From your mobile device, go to aol.com/products/adv-lp/privatewifi/mobile.

2. Tap Get Started.

Note: To complete the activation process your mobile browser cannot be in private mode.

3. Follow the prompts to install the PRIVATE WiFi Mobile for AOL app on your device, and complete the activation process.

4. Feel secure when using public WiFi anywhere!

What happens if I have a new device but have used all of my PRIVATE WiFi by AOL licenses?

If you’ve purchased a new device and want to install PRIVATE WiFi, don’t worry! You can easily deactivate your old device by visiting your MyBenefits page. For instructions on deactivating a MyBenefits license, please read the How do I deactivate a license for an AOL Advantage Plan benefit? article.

I cannot complete the activation process. What do I do?

If you are using an iPhone on iOS 7 and cannot complete the activation process, follow these steps:

1. Return to the Home screen and delete the PRIVATE WiFi mobile app.

Note: To delete the app, tap and hold the icon, and tap the X when it appears. Press the Home button to complete the process.

2. Open Safari, and check to make sure you are not in private mode.

Note: To complete the activation process your mobile browser cannot be in private mode.

3. Return to the activation email on your mobile device and tap Go to the App Store.

4. Tap FREE, then INSTALL to download the Private WiFi Mobile by AOL app.

5. Enter your Apple ID password and tap OK.

6. Open the Private WiFi Mobile by AOL App and follow the prompts to complete the activation process.

What happens to my PRIVATE WiFi Mobile by AOL benefit if I change my AOL Advantage plan?

Only certain AOL Advantage Plans are eligible for PRIVATE WiFi Mobile by AOL.

If you decide to change your AOL Plan to one that does not include PRIVATE WiFi Mobile by AOL you will cancel PRIVATE WiFi Mobile by AOL. If the cancellation is pending your next billing date, Private WiFi Mobile by AOL will remain active until the cancellation of your AOL account is complete.
