You can verify whether the AOL software is installed on your computer by looking for an AOL icon on your desktop, on the Windows taskbar next to the clock, on the Programs menu, on the Add/Remove Programs list, or in the Program Files folder. If the AOL software is installed on your computer, you'll find the AOL icon listed in one or all of the above-mentioned areas. How to
Search for AOL on the Windows taskbarA few icons are displayed next to the clock on the Windows taskbar. Sometimes, some of these icons are hidden. In such cases, click the Show hidden icons arrow next to the clock to reveal the hidden icons. Hover your mouse over each of the icons for a second or two, and the name of the program that the icon represents will be displayed. If the AOL icon is displayed, your computer has the AOL software installed on it. If the AOL icon is not displayed, continue to the next instruction to check whether the AOL software is installed on your computer.
Search for AOL on the desktopCheck whether you have the AOL icon on your desktop. If you see the AOL icon on your desktop, your computer has the AOL software installed on it. If the AOL icon is not displayed on the desktop, continue to the next instruction to check whether the AOL software is installed on your computer.
Search for AOL in the Programs menuClick Start, and then select All Programs or Programs. Review the Programs list for either the AOL folder or the Online Services folder. If you find the Online Services folder, search for the AOL software within this folder. If AOL is listed on the Programs menu, your computer has the AOL software installed on it. If AOL is not listed, continue to the next instruction to check whether the AOL software is installed on your computer.
Search for AOL in Program Files1. Click Start, and then click Computer or My Computer.
2. Double-click the Local Disk (C:) drive.
3. Double-click the Program Files folder.
4. Double-click the AOL or AOL #.# folder (where #.# denotes a number that represent the version of the AOL software installed on your computer, for example, AOL 9.6, AOL 9.5).
Note: If you do not have the AOL or AOL #.# folder, then the AOL software is not installed on your computer. 2. Click the Programs icon.
3. Double-click the Programs and Features icon.
4. Click AOL Uninstaller (Choose which Products to Remove), and then click Uninstall/Change.
5. Click Yes or Continue if prompted by the User Account Control window.
6. Click Yes. Note: If you are not prompted with the AOL Uninstaller window, click the Search for Older Versions of AOL link.
7. In the Select Applications to Uninstall window, check whether AOL is listed. To search the Add/Remove Programs list on Windows XP/2000/98/Me 1. Open Windows Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
3. From the list, click AOL Uninstaller (Choose which Products to Remove) to highlight it, and then click Change/Remove or Add/Remove. 4. Click Yes.
5. In the Select Applications to Uninstall window, check whether AOL is listed.
