Download the AOL installer

The instructions to download and save the AOL installer on your computer depend on the browser that you use. Click the link corresponding to the browser you use to know how to download and save the AOL installer on your computer.

If you're using Internet Explorer:

1. Download the AOL 9.0 VR installer by clicking here.

2. Click Run.

3. Click Run on the Security Warning window.

4. Click Unzip on the WinZip Self-Extractor window. The extracted or unzipped files will be stored in the AOL9.0VR folder that is created automatically in the Local Disk (C:) drive.

Note: Clear the check box next to Overwrite files without prompting. This will ensure that you are notified before the files are overwritten.

5. Click OK.

6. Click Close to close the WinZip Self-Extractor window.

If you're using Firefox:

1. Download the AOL 9.0 VR installer by clicking here.

2. Click Save File.

3. Double-click the AOL 9.0 VR.exe file in the Downloads window.

Note: If prompted by a caution window, click OK.

4. Click Run on the Security Warning window.

5. Click Unzip on the WinZip Self-Extractor window. The extracted or unzipped files will be stored in the AOL9.0VR folder that is created automatically in the Local Disk (C:) drive.

Note: Clear the check box next to Overwrite files without prompting. This will ensure that you are notified before files are overwritten.

6. Click OK.

7. Click Close to close the WinZip Self-Extractor window.


Burn your own AOL CD

If you are using Windows XP, you can use the built-in CD burning software to burn your own CD. If you are using other versions of Windows and do not have the CD burning software, skip to the next section to save the AOL installer to a flash drive. Otherwise, please follow the instructions below.

1. Browse to the location where you have saved the AOL installer, and then double-click the AOL9.0VR folder.

2. Click Edit, and then click Select All.

3. Click File, select Send To, and then click DVD/CD-RW Drive (D:) (or the name of your CD writer).

4. Click the little balloon that appears on the Windows taskbar next to the clock, informing you that you have files to write on the CD, to open the list.

5. Insert a blank disc into your CD drive.

6. Click the Write these files to CD link to start the Windows CD burning wizard and follow the on-screen prompts.


Save the AOL installer to a flash drive

Browse to the location where you have saved the AOL installer, and then right-click the AOL9.0VR folder. Select Send to, and then click USB DISK (E:) (or the name of your flash drive).


Install the AOL Desktop software on your computer using the AOL installer

1. Browse to the location where you have saved the AOL installer, and then double-click the AOL9.0VR folder.

2. Double-click SETUP90 and follow the on-screen prompts.
