What are the monthly charges for AOL Call Alert?

A monthly subscription for AOL Call Alert costs $4.95 per month, in addition to your monthly AOL membership fee. Additionally, depending on your phone company and package, there may be additional telecom fees.

The phone company national average fee for "Call Forward Busy" is $5.05 for a one-time setup and $2 per month thereafter. If your phone company is Pacific Bell, AOL will bill you directly for the Call Forward Busy feature ($5 for initial setup and $1 per month).

What are the minimum system requirements for AOL Call Alert?

Computers that fail to meet the minimum system requirements may experience some issues. Open AOL System Information to check for the minimum system requirements.

To open AOL System Information, click Start, select All Programs or Programs, select AOL or America Online, and then click AOL System Information. To know the minimum system requirements for the AOL Desktop Software, check out the help article System requirements for AOL Desktop Software.

Note: Once you have verified the minimum system requirements, close the AOL System Information window.

Minimum system requirements for Windows

• Windows 95 or higher
• AOL 6.0 or higher
• Pentium class processor 166 MHz or more
• 64 MB (megabytes) RAM or higher
• VGA, SVGA, or better display
• 800 × 600 screen resolution or higher
• Soundcard and speaker(s)
• Dial-up modem or any other internet connection of at least 28.8 Kbps speed

Minimum system requirements for Macintosh Classic

• Mac OS 9.0 or higher
• 32 MB of built-in RAM or more
• 256 color display or better
• Dial-up modem or any other internet connection of at least 14.4 Kbps speed

Minimum system requirements for Macintosh OS X

• Mac OSX 10.1 or higher
• 128 MB of RAM or more
• 30 MB available hard disk space
• 800
• Modem supported by Mac OSX or any other means of connecting to the internet

Why can't I register for AOL Call Alert?

We’re sorry to inform you that AOL Voice Services no longer offers new registrations for our AOL Voice Services (AOL Call Alert, AOLbyPhone or AOL Voicemail).

While this means we will no longer allow new registrations, AOL will continue to support current AOL Call Alert users. However, AOL will no longer support switching lines or adding a new line to the service.
