Clear cookies, cache, and history on AOL 8.0 and lower versions

Whenever you visit websites, temporary Internet files and cookies are stored on your computer to identify the websites you've visited. Sometimes, these temporary Internet files and cookies can cause the issue you are currently experiencing. Similarly, your History list can also be a concern. The more the days you have specified for pages to be saved on your history list, the greater is the disk space used on your computer. You can free up your disk space by clearing this list.

Clear the AOL Web page storage cache

You can store the Web pages you view on the AOL service on your computer. This helps in faster Web browsing but takes up space and can result in your Web pages going out of date.

To clear the AOL Web page storage cache
1. Go to AOL Keyword: Settings.

Note: This keyword can be accessed only within the AOL software. However, the Keyword feature is not available in AOL Desktop v10.1.

2. Click the Index tab.
3. Click the Internet [Web] Options link.
4. In the AOL Internet Properties window, in the Browsing history section, click Delete.
5. Click OK.
6. Click X on the upper right.

Clear the toolbar history

The history drop-down menu on the upper right of the navigation bar displays the list of the most recently visited AOL areas or Web pages. You can delete this list (or toolbar history) if it becomes too long and confusing.

To delete the toolbar history
1. Go to AOL Keyword: Toolbar Settings.

• This keyword can be accessed only within the AOL software. However, the Keyword feature is not available in AOL Desktop v10.1.
• To clear the toolbar history each time you sign off or switch screen names, check the box next to Clear History Trail and Auto-complete after each time I Sign Off or Switch Screen Names.

2. To clear the toolbar history, click Clear History Trail Now.
3. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
4. Click Save.
