AOL Sync powered by Funambol

If you have an existing AOL account, you are ready to go! Most users can use AOL Sync immediately after registering for their AOL accounts. If you do not have an AOL account, visit us at AOL Free Email to get a free email address.

Additionally, you will need the following:

• A supported handset
• A mobile phone with Internet connection
• An appropriate Internet data plan from your mobile operator

Currently, AOL Sync does not support all models of mobile phones. We are constantly updating our list of supported handsets in an effort to include as many phone models as possible. Please keep checking our website to see whether your phone is added to our list of supported handsets.

Please ensure that your AOL Username/password in the Settings section is correct.

1. Open the sync application on your phone.
2. Select Funambol if you have set up your phone for AOL Sync with the profile name Funambol as instructed in the How to sync page on the AOL Sync Website.

Yes, using AOL Sync and the Outlook plug-in, you can synchronize your AOL contacts and calendar with those in Outlook 2002 (XP), Outlook 2003, and Outlook 2007. The Outlook plug-in for AOL Sync requires your computer to have Windows Vista or Windows XP. You can download the Outlook plug-in for AOL Sync from the AOL Sync Website.

To help speed up the synchronization process and minimize the amount of data transferred to your phone during a sync session, we only synchronize events six months forward and one month back from the current date. If your events fall within that range and you are still not seeing them after syncing, please verify that all the AOL Calendars selected for sync through AOL Sync are viewable in AOL Calendar.

Verify the Time Zone settings of your AOL Calendar by selecting settings on AOL WebMail. Make sure that the time zone on your AOL Calendar matches that of your phone.

Please restart your Outlook, and this should resolve the problem.

Yes, you can sync either your calendar, or your contacts, or both using the Funambol plug-in on your Outlook.

Yes, you can. To confirm your registration, the AOL Sync website will send the provisioning code from the AOL Sync server to the phone on which you wish to use AOL Sync powered by Funambol. This confirmation code is sent through SMS. As of now, only users in the United States will receive the confirmation code from AOL Sync.

If you are outside of the United States, you can install the Funambol software to your mobile phone in one of the following three ways:

Mobile phones with SyncML support: Major mobile phone manufacturers, such as Nokia, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson, include SyncML on their mobile phones. If you have a mobile phone that has SyncML support already installed on it, use the following settings to establish a sync protocol with AOL Sync.

Please make sure that the SyncML software on your mobile phone has the following settings:

• Server location is set to My AOL Sync. You can also access it by going to:https://msync.aol.com/sync.
• Your AOL Username or email is entered in the Username box.
• Your AOL password is entered in the Password box.

False number registration: You can also register your mobile phone on the AOL Sync website using a false number by following the instructions given below.

1. Go to the AOL Sync website and sign on using your AOL Username.
2. When prompted to enter a phone number, enter 650-555-1111.
3. In the Carrier drop-down menu, select Other.
4. In the Manufacturer drop-down menu, select the manufacturer of your phone.
5. Click Send code.
6. In the new page, click the Code didn't arrive? Continue with an unverified device link and follow the on-screen instructions.

Mobile phones without SyncML support: If your mobile phone does not have SyncML support and you are located outside the United States, go to http://my.funambol.com/ and register for the free 90-day service.

Once you have registered your phone and installed the Funambol software on your phone, follow the instructions given below:

1. Open the Funambol software.
2. Go to Options.
3. Select Account.
4. Change the server location to https://msync.aol.com/sync.
5. Enter your AOL Username or email in the Username box.
6. Enter your AOL password in the Password box.
7. Click OK. Your phone is now ready to be synced with your AOL account.

Note: If your mobile phone is not registered on the AOL Sync website, your default sync will not include the Auto-Added contacts from your Address Book. However, if you wish to include an Auto-Added contact, go to your Address Book and change the contacts category to a category other than Auto-Added. When you sync the next time, this contact will be included.

This error is not specific to the Funambol plug-in and is seen to occur even while using other applications on Blackberry. JVM Error 545 is caused when the memory of the BlackBerry device gets corrupted. BlackBerry Forums suggest that you reset and/or reinstall the operating system of the device.
