Choose a default browser

You have the option of setting a default web browser on your computer. By setting Internet Explorer as your default browser, Internet Explorer will open automatically whenever a program needs to access the internet. Follow the steps below to set Internet Explorer as your default browser for Internet Explorer 7.0 and higher versions and Internet Explorer 6.0.

To set Internet Explorer as your default browser, using Internet Explorer 7.0 and higher versions:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Programs tab.
4. Under Default web browsers section, click Make Default.

Note: If the Make Default is grayed out, Internet Explorer is your default browser.

5. Click OK.

To set Internet Explorer as your default browser, using Internet Explorer 6.0:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Programs tab.
4. Check the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box.
5. Click OK.
6. Close Internet Explorer.
7. Restart your computer.
8. Open Internet Explorer.
9. When the Would you like to make [Internet Explorer] your default browser? prompt appears, click Yes.
