How do I change my Account Security Question on AOL Mail?

To ensure the security and privacy of your account, we follow a policy of asking you to verify your identity prior to discussing or taking any action on an account. To offer you this level of security, we have implemented the Account Security Question (ASQ). The ASQ is a question and answer combination that you create to protect your privacy. It allows you to verify your account quickly and easily.

If you are the master account holder on your AOL account and you know the answer to the ASQ for your Master username, you can log in and reset the ASQ for any other Username on your account; however, if you do not remember the ASQ answer to your Master username, you must follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Go to AOL Billing.

2. Sign in using your Username or Email and Password.

3. Click the Forgot Answer link.

4. In the Account Security Question Reset window, type the characters shown in the Image Challenge box.

5. Click Next.

Note: If you can not see the image clearly, click Refresh Image. A new image challenge will then appear. If this doesn't work, select Audio Assistance to hear the hidden code.

6. Enter your billing information and select Next.

Note: If you are not a paid AOL user, you will not be presented with this step. Please jump to Step 7.

7. Enter the alternate email address you provided when you originally set up your account. If you don't recall your alternate email address, please provide your Birth Date, Gender, and Zip Code then click Submit.

Note: If you can't recall any information in the above reset box, you will be locked out of your account for 24 hours after the exceeded number of attempts are reached. Select Live Help and a representative will be able to help you with your account.

8. Click the Account Security Question drop-down menu and select a question from the list.

9. In the Your Answer box, type the answer to your ASQ.

10. In the Re-type Your Answer box, re-type the answer to your ASQ and click Next.

11. A confirmation message is displayed. Click Continue.

Your AOL Account Security Question is now changed.
