About AOL Toolbar

AOL Toolbar provides you with quick access to your favorite AOL features like email, instant messages, as well as easy and customizable search to enhance your web browsing experience.

Download the AOL Toolbar

To install the AOL Toolbar:

1. Go to toolbar.aol.com/aol/download.html or go to AOL Keyword: AOL Toolbar on the AOL software.

Note: If your browser window is open, please close and reopen it to activate the AOL Toolbar software.

System Requirements

The minimum system requirements for installing and using the AOL Toolbar 5 software are:

• Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Mac OS X
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or above (up to IE 9), Mozilla Firefox
  

If you do not know what version of the Microsoft Internet Explorer is installed on your computer, follow the instructions in the online help article entitled How to Determine Which Version of Internet Explorer is Installed on My Computer.

Turn the AOL Toolbar On or Off

You can turn off the AOL Toolbar 5 software temporarily without uninstalling it. You can turn it back on again at any time from your browser menus.

To turn off or on the AOL Toolbar on Internet Explorer 6.0 or Mozilla Firefox:
In the browser window, click the View menu, select Toolbars, then click AOL Toolbar.

To turn off or on the AOL Toolbar on Internet Explorer 7.0:
In the browser window, click the Tools menu, select Toolbars, then click AOL Toolbar.

Note: A check mark next to AOL Toolbar in the Toolbars menu indicates that it is currently turned on.

Search

AOL Toolbar Search is an integrated feature of the AOL Toolbar through which you can quickly search the web for any information that you need. Using AOL Toolbar Search, you can customize your search to look for pictures, videos, and web pages.

Email

The AOL Toolbar includes an icon to provide you with quick access to your AOL, AIM, or My eAddress email. If you are already logged into your email account, clicking the Mail button will take you straight to your mailbox.

To check your email:

1. In the browser window, on the AOL Toolbar, click the Mail button.
