AOL Desktop v10.1 integrates e-mail, Web browsing, instant messaging, and other online activities into a single, easy-to-use application, letting you multitask in fewer clicks. You can browse the Web without signing on, provided you have an Internet connection. However, you need to sign on to the AOL Desktop v10.1 to have full access to all the features of AOL Desktop v10.1 software, like e-mail, address book, buddy list etc. To get to the sign on screen, on the toolbar, click the Sign In link.

How do I sign on using AOL Desktop v10.1?

1. On the toolbar, click the Sign In link.

2. In the screen name box, select or type your screen name.

3. Type your password in the password box.

4. Click Sign In.

Can I save my screen name on the sign on screen to avoid typing my screen name every time I sign in?

Yes, AOL Desktop v10.1 can remember your screen name. On the sign on screen, check the Remember Me box to save your screen name on the screen name drop-down menu.

Yes, you can. On the sign on screen, check the Save Password box to avoid typing your password every time you sign in.

Can I have the sign on screen show up as soon as I launch the software?

Yes, on the sign on screen, check the Always display sign in screen at startup box, to be prompted with the sign in screen every time you launch the software.

Can I set the software to automatically sign in every time I launch it?

Yes, you can set the AOL Desktop v10.1 to sign on automatically by checking the Auto Sign In box on the sign on screen.

What is the Connection Options link for?

If you want to set, modify, or check your connection on AOL Desktop v10.1, click the Connection Options link. If you have a broadband connection, you might not need to use it as the AOL software automatically detects the connection and sets it up for you. If you are using the AOL dial-up connection, and if you want to choose a different access phone number or create a new location, click the Connection Options link. Why does the image on the sign on screen change when I switch screen names?

AOL Desktop v10.1 displays your buddy icon on the sign on screen. The image or the picture on the sign on screen is your buddy icon. Every time you switch a screen name, the sign on screen displays the buddy icon corresponding to that screen name.

No, you can also sign in with your AIM® and AOL® MyeAddress screen names.

What is a screen name?

Your screen name identifies you on the AOL® service and serves as your e-mail address. Your screen name along with @aol.com is your e-mail address (for example, if imingGracy@aol.com is your e-mail address, your screen name is imingGracy).

What if I don't have a screen name?

If you are not an AOL member or an AIM user, you can create an AOL screen name to access additional AOL Desktop v10.1 features. To sign up for a free account, on the sign on screen, click the Get a Screen Name link , and follow the onscreen prompts to create a screen name.

What if I don't remember my password?
