Send and receive email attachments on AOL Desktop for Mac

When you receive a file attachment in e-mail, it will appear as a paperclip icon next to the subject line of your e-mail, when you open it using the AOL® Desktop for Mac® software. In order to see what is in the attached file, you need to download it. Remember, you never want to download a file from someone you don't know. It could infect your computer with a virus.

How to

Download an Attachment

When you receive an e-mail with a file attached to it, you will need to download it to your computer in order to view it.

To download a file you received in e-mail on AOL Desktop for Mac

1. On the AOL software, click the Mail icon on the toolbar, then click the Write Mail icon.

2. Double-click the e-mail that contains the attachment you would like to download.

3. In the upper left of the e-mail pane, next to Attachments, click the Save button, then click the attachment you wish to download.

4. In the Save As box, type the name with which you wish to save the file.

5. In the Where box, select the location where you want to download the file, then click the Save button.

Send an Attachment

You can send total of 25 megabytes of attachments per e-mail, either as a single file or as a group of smaller files.

To send an attachment

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Write Mail icon.

2. Click the Attach button.

3. Navigate to the folder that contains the file you want to attach, double-click the file you wish to attach, or highlight the file, then click the Attach button.

4. Address and write the e-mail, ensure the file being sent is not open, then click the Send button.
