Why won’t the coupon printer install?

If you're having problems installing the coupon printer, it could be that you don't have Java installed on your computer. If you don't have Java installed, visit Java Downloads for All Operating Systems to download and install it.

A security wall or lack of full administrative rights may also be preventing you from installing the coupon printer. This is most common in corporate environments. You'll need to speak to your system administrator (IT person) because only he/she will be able to change the permissions for our coupon printer to install.

Also, spyware blockers or antivirus protection may require extra steps. Please make sure you have the latest spyware and antivirus software updates. Industry leaders such as Symantec, McAfee and Trend Micro recognize our product as safe and secure in their most recent versions. You may need to complete additional confirmation steps as required by your specific application.

Why did I get a warning to not install my printer?

Our coupon printer uses Java and some anti-spyware software may issue an alert anytime a new Java install is attempted. Read the warning closely. It's often just a "double-check" for you to confirm your approval of the download that is about to begin. If you're running Symantec, McAfee or Trend Micro, get their latest updates. These industry leaders recognize our product as safe and secure in their most recent versions.

Why didn’t my coupons print?

You usually have a second chance to print a coupon in case the first attempt failed. We can tell if the command to print was sent to your printer, but not if your printer was able to print the coupon. After two requests, a coupon is no longer available. Please check your printer after your first attempt to print a coupon. If you are having troubles with your printer, please contact your printer's manufacturer or review your printer's user manual.

Why did I receive an error message about my default printer?

Check to make sure your printer is on and its cable is not loose. You may also get this error if your printer is set at low-resolution or draft mode. You must print the coupons at a resolution of 300-dpi in order for them to be legible and able to be scanned at the store. Also, you cannot print to PDF or any other kind of electronic file format.

Why didn’t the barcode scan during checkout or why isn't there a barcode?

Ensure that your printer is able to print at a resolution of 300-dpi in order for the coupons to be legible and able to be scanned at the store.

If you're using electronic coupons, don't worry! Shortcuts.com electronic coupons do not have barcodes. The couponing service is totally paperless! The electronic coupons are added directly to your store card and redeemed automatically when you purchase the appropriate products and scan your registered store savings card at checkout.

What is the difference between coupon codes and Shortcuts.com coupons?

1. Coupon codes are only for online shopping, while electronic and printable coupons are for use in the store.
2. Coupon codes must be entered during the checkout process on a store's website. These codes consist of letters and numbers that allow you to obtain discounts during checkout of your cash back savings online shopping session.
3. Shortcuts.com Printable are print-at-home coupons that can be used when you check out at your local store.

My printer settings are correct. Why won’t my coupons print?

If you believe the problem is with a particular coupon and not with your printer, email us and let us know which coupon you're having a problem with. We'll look into it!

How can I conserve ink in my printer?

If you're looking to conserve ink in your printer you can adjust your printer settings to print in black and white or to print at slightly lower quality. For example, if your printer is set to photo-quality printing then you should consider changing it to a resolution of 300-dpi  printing. After you've changed your printer settings, you may want to consider printing out only one coupon to make sure that the barcode remains legible.

How do I switch to black and white printing?

If you'd like to print in black and white only, you'll need to check your printer's user manual. Changing your printing preferences is different for every type of printer. Often, once you select print, you have the option to select Properties, and then choose a black and white option from the Set Up page.
