Commenting on articles

The AOL network of websites offers its users a plethora of articles about pretty much everything under the sun – and pretty much everything over it, too! But the diversity of our content is matched only by the diversity of our readers’ opinions. We really want to know what you think, which is why AOL allows users to share their multitude of opinions in the Add Your Comments section after each article.

Adding a comment

1. Choose an article of your liking about which you’d like to comment.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the article to the Add Your Comment section.

  • New users/New readers: Enter your name and e-mail address and check the Remember Me and/or E-Mail when someone replies to this comment check boxes if you so choose. Then type your comment in the text box and click add your comment. You’ll receive an email asking you to activate your comments by clicking the URL provided. Click the URL.  A new window will open and you will see your comment posted below the article.
  • Current users/Returning: Enter your email and password and check the Remember Me and/or E-Mail when someone replies to this comment check boxes if you so choose. Then type your comment in the text box and click add your comment. You’ll receive an email asking you to activate your comments by clicking the URL provided. Click the URL.  A new window will open and you will see your comment posted below the article.

Replying to a comment

1. Click reply under the comment you’d like to reply to.
2. If you are a:

  • New user/New readers: Enter your name and email address and check the Remember Me and/or E-Mail when someone replies to this comment check boxes if you so choose. Then type your comment in the text box and click add your comment. You’ll receive an email asking you to activate your comments by clicking the URL provided. Click the URL.  A new window will open and you will see your comment posted below the article.
  • Current user/Returning: Enter your email and password and check the Remember Me and/or E-Mail when someone replies to this comment check boxes if you so choose. Then type your comment in the text box and click add your comment. You’ll receive an email asking you to activate your comments by clicking the URL provided. Click the URL.  A new window will open and you will see your comment posted below the article.

Reporting a comment

1. If you’ve found an inappropriate comment or spam on one of the comment boards, click the Report icon (!)/REPORT in the comment box. 
2. A pop-up window will ask, Are you sure you want to report this comment? Click OK
3. A pop-up window will read, Comment has been reported for review. Thank You! Click OK.

Voting on a comment

If you’d like to see a comment appear closer to the top of the site’s comment boards, click the Vote This Comment Up icon (+)/LIKE. If you’d like to vote a comment down, click the Vote This Comment Down icon (-)/DISLIKE. All votes will be tabulated and the comment will be prioritized based on users’ preference.

NOTE: If you are trying to post comments on HuffingtonPost.com but your screen is turning gray, keeping your comments from posting, please try the steps below.

1. Click Log in in the upper right corner of the Huffington Post site.

2. Select the option to log in with your AOL account.

3. Enter your AOL Username and password.

You should now be able to post your comment.
