How do I get the new AOL Radio web player?

You will be access the new web player from AOLRadio.com, the same way you do now, using any web browser.

Will I need to register for the new AOL Radio?

Yes. After you listen to 100 song tracks, you will need to register with an email address, create a password and enter year of birth, gender and ZIP code. You will also be asked to agree to the Terms of Use as well as sign up for the AOL Radio newsletter.

Registering allows us to remember your favorite stations, songs and custom stations. This information will not be shared with third parties and is used for ad targeting only.

Which products will be changing?

All products will change - AOL Radio web player, AOL Radio toolbar and AOL Radio mobile apps.

Note: For mobile apps, you will need to download the new AOL Radio app from iTunes.

Will there be fewer commercials?

Yes. We have heard you loud and clear! The new AOL Radio will have 50 percent fewer commercials. Also, users who subscribe to the Radio Plus or Premium Radio products will get ad-free AOL Radio as part of thier benefits.

How do I get the new AOL Radio app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad?

If you already have the AOL Radio app for iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad installed, you will have to upgrade in order to keep listening to AOL Radio stations. You can do so through the iTunes app store on your computer or mobile device.

What are some features of the new player?

• Personalized radio - Create your own radio stations based on your favorite artists or songs and share them with your friends.
• Fewer commercials and ads - We have received many complaints about the number of commercials played on AOL Radio. So, the new AOL Radio player will have 50 percent fewer commercials. Listeners who subscribe to Radio Plus or Premium Radio will enjoy ad-free AOL Radio as part of thier benefits.
• Longer player timeout - For our free web player, the player will no longer go to sleep after just 60 minutes. AOL Radio will now continue to play if you leave your computer unattended for up to three hours.
• Ban a song from a station - Tired of hearing a certain song on a station? You will be able to eliminate it completely.
• Album titles and reviews - We have brought back album titles so that you can see track names while you're listening to them. Plus, album reviews will also be available.

Will AOL Radio continue to be free?

Yes. AOL Radio will continue to be free; however, there will be options to upgrade to one of our paid premium options, which will allow you to listen to AOL Radio ad-free with unlimited skipping as well as on-demand listening.

Will I have to reset my presets?

Yes. We will have new and improved presets, now called Favorite Stations, that offer more stability. You will have to reset presets the first time you use the new AOL Radio web player and mobile app. In order to save your favorite stations you must register. For instructions on how to do so, please refer to our help article How to create an account on the new AOL Radio.

What will happen to the AOL Radio toolbar?

The toolbar has been rebuilt with more room for favorite stations and direct access to AOL Music’s free weekly CD Listening Party.

Why is AOL no longer partnered with CBS?

AOL Radio has had a successful partnership with CBS Radio. We now look forward to working with Slacker as we continue to align our business to meet the needs of the market and our loyal customers.

Will local CBS Radio stations continue to be featured?

Because of the end of our partnership with CBS, we will no longer feature CBS Radio’s local stations on our player or iPhone app. AOL Radio powered by Slacker will feature news and sports radio by ABC and ESPN Radio.

Will there be a paid version of AOL Radio available?

Yes. Listeners will have the option to subscribe to one of two premium services:

• Radio Plus - For $3.99, you will receive ad-free radio, unlimited song skipping and offline listening for your mobile device.
• Premium Radio - For $9.99, you will receive all of the benefits of Radio Plus as well as On Demand listening.

Will there be a service for dial-up users?

Unfortunately, because if the high quality and extensive functionality of AOL Radio powered by Slacker, the service will not work if you are on a dial-up connection.

Because we still want you to enjoy free internet radio, we suggest visiting SHOUTcast Radio, which features 45,000 stations from around the world.

Are all AOL Radio stations included in the new AOL Radio?

AOL Radio powered by Slacker includes a majority of the radio stations that existed in the previous version and they continue to be programmed by AOL Radio music directors.

The All Artist stations will not be available in the new AOL Radio because of various licensing issues; however, you can now create an artist station by clicking on the Create Station link in the left rail.

How do I submit feedback?

When will AOL Radio be available for Android?

AOL Radio for Android will be released later during the fall of 2011. More details will be posted as they become available.

Are the stations the same?

Some AOL Radio stations might not be in the genre you remember them being in.

How do I set a station as a favorite?

To set a station as a favorite, click the Heart icon next to the station name at the top of the player. If the heart turns yellow, that station has been stored as a "Favorite Station" on the left menu of the player.

To remove a station as a favorite, unclick the Heart icon next to the station name when it is playing.

How do I set a song as a favorite?

If you hear a song that you like, click on the Heart icon in the Now Playing window to remember that song. Whenever you listen to a station that offers this song, the song will play more frequently.
