Unusual activity detected on your account - AOL Desktop software

As part of AOL's ongoing effort to protect users' security and reduce the number of accounts with suspicious activity, AOL has instituted a pop-up campaign that warns users when suspicious activity is detected.

If you are using the AOL Desktop software, the pop-up will look like this:

You received this pop-up because unusual activity has been detected on your account, most likely due to repeated spamming or phishing attempts. As a result, AOL has temporarily suspended access to your account until you can confirm your personal information.

Should you receive this pop-up window, click OK and take one of the following actions:

  • Within the AOL Dialer window, click Forgot Password? and follow the on-screen instructions. For more information, please see our help article Reset my forgotten AOL password.

  • Contact AOL Customer Support Team at 1-877-786-0722, available Monday through Friday from 8AM to 10PM ET.

You should also make sure that your computer is protected by an updated version of anti-virus software. Please check out the various online safety options that AOL offers on the AOL Lifestore.
