Download and View Pictures Sent to Me in E-mail

Your AOL software can automatically download and display most pictures received via e-mail.

AOL software is compatible with several image types including the following file name extensions: .jpg or .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, and .art. These pictures can either be embedded in the body of the e-mail, or sent as e-mail attachments.

If you wish to save an embedded picture separately, simply right-click the image, click Save Picture As..., navigate to the folder where you would like to save it, then click the Save button.

Set Download Preferences to Automatically Display Images Once They Are Downloaded

By default your AOL software will automatically open and display pictures as soon as they are downloaded. Otherwise, you can manually open them afterwards by using either the AOL software, or another graphics program that supports the image type.

To set download preferences to display images automatically:
1. Click the File menu, then click Download Manager.
2. In the Download Manager window, click the Preferences button.

Note: If you are using AOL 8.0 or lower, click the Download Preferences button.

3. Click the Automatically display images after downloading box to place a check mark in it.
4. Click the Save button to record the change, then click the X on the top right of the Download Manager window to close it.
