Installing DataMask by AOL

To install DataMask by AOL:

1. If you purchased DataMask by AOL on Lifestore, log in with the email address from which you purchased the product. Locate the Order Confirmation email that you received when you subscribed to DataMask by AOL and click the GET STARTED NOW button.

Alternatively, if you received DataMask by AOL as a benefit with your AOL Advantage Plan, visit mybenefits.aol.com, sign in with your Username or Email and Password, locate DataMask by AOL and click Download Now.

2. Click Run.

3. Close all open application and then click Next.

4. After reading the License Agreement, click I Agree.

5. Select whether you’d like to reboot your computer now or later by clicking the appropriate radio button. Then click Finish.

Once you restart your computer DataMask by AOL will automatically begin running on all major web browsers including Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, FireFox 3 or higher and Google Chrome. Anything you type into the web fields in the web browser is scrambled and replaced with false, random characters.

System requirements for installing DataMask by AOL

DataMask system requirements include:

PCs: Windows 8, Windows XP Service Pack 3, at least 512MB RAM, a 233 MHz processor or higher, and a 32 or 64bit operating system.

Web Browsers: Internet Explorer 6 or higher, FireFox 3 or higher and Google Chrome.

Uninstalling DataMask by AOL

To uninstall DataMask by AOL:

1. Open the Windows Control Panel:

  • In Windows XP/Vista, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  • In Windows XP Pro/2000/Me/98, click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Open the installed program list:

  • In Windows Vista, under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
    Note: If using Classic View, double-click the Programs and Features icon.
  • In Windows XP/XP Pro/2000, click Add or Remove Programs.
    Note: If using Classic View, double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
  • If using Windows Me/98, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3. Click DataMask by AOL, and then click Change/Remove, Add/Remove, or Uninstall.

Note: If there is no entry in the Add/Remove Programs window for DataMask by AOL, contact our technical support team at datamaskhelp@aol.com.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to remove the program.

5. Restart your computer to complete the uninstallation.

Note: If DataMask by AOL is included with your AOL Advantage Plan, visit mybenefits.aol.com to deactivate your DataMask license for the computer which you are uninstalling the software from.
