How do I turn off the password auto-complete feature?

The AOL Desktop Software will not automatically store or fill in your password for you. If your password is being filled in when you sign on to AOL.com, it is most likely being automatically completed by your browser. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape have the feature of automatically completing your password. If you share your computer with anyone, you may want to turn off this feature to protect your privacy.

To disable the password auto-complete feature, select the appropriate browser from the list given below.


Chrome

1. Launch Google Chrome.

2. Click the Tools menu in the upper-right corner and select Options.

3. Click the Personal Stuff tab.

4. In the Passwords section, click Show saved passwords.

5. From the list, select the AOL website and click Remove to clear the AOL Username and password.

6. Click Close.

7. In the Form autofill section, click Autofill options.

8. Clear the check box next to Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click.

9. Click Close.

10. Click Close again.


Firefox

1. Open Mozilla Firefox.

2. In the Tools menu, click Options.

3. Click the Security icon.

4. Clear the check box next to Remember passwords for sites.

5. Click OK.


Internet Explorer

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. In the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

3. Click the Content tab.

4. In the AutoComplete section, click Settings.

5. Clear the check box next to User names and passwords on forms.

6. Click OK.

7. Click OK again.


Netscape

1. Open Netscape 9.0.

2. Click the Tools drop-down menu and then select Options.

3. Click the Security icon.

4. Clear the check box next to Remember passwords for sites.

5. Click OK.


Safari

1. Open Safari for Mac.

2. Click the Safari drop-down menu and select Preferences.

3. Click the AutoFill icon.

4. Next to User names and passwords, click Edit.

5. Click Remove All and then click Done.

6. Clear the check box next to User names and passwords.

7. Close the AutoFill window.
