Controlling pop-up ads on webpages

Pop-ups are a form of online advertising intended to attract web traffic. They are small windows that open in front of or behind the page you want to view. In addition to sometimes causing your computer to become slow and unresponsive, pop-ups often interfere with viewing your webpage by covering the content you are reading. You can control the frequency of these ads by following the steps below.

To disable pop-ups using Internet Explorer 8.0, 7.0 or 6.0

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Click the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.

3. Click the Privacy tab.

4. Check the box next to Block pop-ups.

5. Click Apply, then click OK.
