How do I fix the JavaScript errors that I receive while browsing?

If you receive JavaScript errors while browsing, try the solutions listed below to resolve the issue. If the first solution doesn’t work, try the next solution and so on until you no longer receive JavaScript errors.

Before you get started, you’ll need to determine which browser version you have.

Enable Java applet scripting and cookies

Enabling Java applet scripting and cookies may help you resolve the issue. To learn how to enable the scripting and cookies, visit our help article Enable Java applet scripting and cookies.

Clear cookies, cache, history and footprints

Whenever you visit certain websites, temporary internet files and cookies are stored on your computer to keep a memory of the sites you’ve visited. These stored files can be helpful to access information faster but can fill up your computer’s disk space. Sometimes, these temporary files and cookies can cause JavaScript errors. Similarly, your history list can also be a concern. The bigger the size and duration of your history list, the more disk space your computer uses. You can free disk space by clearing this list. Keep in mind: When you clear your cookies, cache, history and footprints, you may lose information in your shopping cart, customized pages, websites you’ve visited and AOL Radio presets. Please visit our help article Clear cookies, cache, history and footprints, select your browser version and follow the instructions to clear cookies, cache, history and footprints.

Reset web settings

If you've installed multiple web browsers your settings may have changed; however, you can reset your browser to its default settings. The homepage, the search pages and the default browser will be reset without changing the settings of the other browsers on your computer. Please visit our help article Reset web settings to know how to reset your web settings.

Download Java Virtual Machine

Some programs require Java to function properly. If you have trouble accessing your web sites, installing the latest Java Virtual Machine can help resolve this issue. Check out our online help article for instructions on how to download and install the latest Java Virtual Machine.
