Callers hear a busy signal even though I have AOL Call Alert
Callers may hear a busy signal when calling you if the Call Forward Busy phone feature has not been added to your phone line yet. To resolve the issue, we recommend that you contact your phone service provider to ensure that the Call Forward Busy feature is added to your phone line.
The Call Forward Busy feature, which is provided by your telephone service provider, is required for AOL Call Alert to notify you of your incoming calls. In most cases, when you register for the AOL Call Alert service, we will ask you whether we can request your telephone service provider to activate the Call Forward Busy feature on your phone. If we are unable to request the feature, we will send you an email with detailed instructions on how to request your telephone company for the feature. When AOL orders the Call Forward Busy feature for you, it may take between 1 and 5 business days for the phone company to process the request.
When you contact your phone company representative to order the Call Forward Busy feature, ask the representative to use 1-866-629-4265 as the forwarding number. They may need to add 1 to the forwarding number. Once the feature is added to your phone line, please test the service. To do so, sign on to the AOL service and have someone call you (or if you have a cell phone, you can use it to call your home number while you're online).
Note: If you have difficulties ordering the Call Forward Busy feature or if you need assistance placing the order, AOL can arrange a conference call between you and your phone company. Just call us at 1-877-742-9546 between 8AM and 1AM Eastern time, Monday to Friday.
