| You can control spam on AOL® WebMail by altering the spam filter settings, blocking specific e-mail addresses, and filtering the content. You can also permanently block spam e-mails or move them to the Recently Deleted folder. Each AOL screen name has its own set of Spam Settings.
To control spam e-mails delivered to your WebMail, you need to sign on to the WebMail address for which you would like to change the Spam Settings.
Note: You need to sign on using a master screen name or a screen name in the General Access category to adjust your Spam Settings. A master screen name is the first screen name that you created for this account and any screen name that you have assigned the master screen name status at https://bill.aol.com/SPortal/jsp/ScreenNameMain.
To access Spam Settings on WebMail 1. Go to http://webmail.aol.com/, and then sign on using your AOL screen name and password. 2. On the upper right, click the Settings link.

3. In the left panel, click the Spam Settings link.

4. Under Spam Controls, you can change the Spam Filter setting and regulate who can/cannot e-mail you, decide whether e-mails containing pictures or files should be blocked, and also decide whether the blocked e-mails should be permanently deleted or sent to the Spam folder. Choose the appropriate option depending on how strict you want Spam Controls to be.

Spam Filter - You can choose among the following levels to control unwanted e-mails coming into your Inbox or New Mail folder.
Note: The recommended setting is Medium.
- Off: Advanced Spam Filters are off. Messages suspected as spam will still be delivered to your Inbox or the New Mail folder.
- Low: Only obvious spam messages will be identified and delivered to the Spam folder. Some spam messages may be delivered to your Inbox or the New Mail folder.
- Medium: Almost all spam will be identified and delivered to your Spam folder. Check your Spam folder every few days to make sure that a non-spam e-mail was not accidentally delivered there.
- High: Virtually all spam will be identified and delivered to your Spam folder. This high level of filtering may inadvertently send non-spam e-mails to your Spam folder. Check your Spam folder regularly.
Sender Filter: You can control e-mails delivered to your Inbox by blocking e-mails from specific e-mail addresses or domains. The following options are available in the Sender Filter drop-down menu:
- Block mail from addresses I specify: Allows you to block e-mails from specific domain names and e-mail addresses. Enter the screen name or e-mail address in the Enter Screen Name or Email Address box, and then click +.
- Allow mail from all senders
- Allow mail only from aol.com users
- Allow mail only from people I know
- Allow mail only from addresses I specify: Lets you enter the e-mail addresses and domain names from which you would like to receive e-mails. Enter the domain name or e-mail address in the Enter Screen Name or Email Address box, and then click +.
- Block mail from all senders
Content Filter: You can control the content of the e-mails that you receive by selecting or clearing the following check boxes:
- Block mail containing pictures or files
- Block mail containing specific words and phrases
Blocked Mail: Once spam is identified, you can choose to either Permanently delete blocked mail or Deliver blocked mail to Spam folder.
5. At the bottom of the page, click Save.
 6. Click Check Mail to return to your e-mails.
