What are the features of AIM?

The most recent version of the AIM® software includes many new and improved features to increase the compatibility and flexibility of your instant messaging experience. AIM is now compatible with Windows® Vista® and Windows XP 64-bit. However, please note that some features may require additional components or services.

Who can use the AIM service?

The AIM service can be used by anyone with a computer and an Internet connection.

What is the cost of the AIM service?

AIM is free! However, you are responsible for the charges associated with your Internet connection, any associated telephone charges, or any premium services that you choose.

How do I download the AIM software?

To download the AIM software, go to http://www.aim.com, and then click the Download button. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the AIM software.

Note: Choose the AIM software that is compatible with your operating system.

What is AIM Express?

The AIM Express service is a convenient, travel version of the AIM service that lets you view your Buddy List window and send instant messages from any computer with a Web browser and an Internet connection. Just like the AIM service, the AIM Express service is free, but there is no need to download the software. You can access it from your Web browser. All you need to access the AIM Express service is a computer, a connection to the Internet, and a Java™-enabled Web browser.

To try the AIM Express service, go to http://www.aim.com/, and then click the Launch AIM Express button.

Note: Alternatively, you can access AIM Express by going to http://www.aim.com/, moving your mouse over the AIM.com drop-down button, and then clicking the AIM Express link.
