Reset or change your password

Your password gives you access to every AOL service you use. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it to get back in to your AOL account. It's also a good idea to update your password regularly and to make sure it's unique from other passwords you use.

To manage and recover your account if you forget your password or username, make sure you have access to the recovery phone number or alternate email address you've added to your AOL account.

Reset a forgotten password

Use Sign-in Helper, AOL's password reset and account recovery tool, to get back in to your account.

  1. Go to the Sign-in Helper.
  2. Enter one of the account recovery items listed.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Follow the instructions given in the Sign-in Helper.

Change your password

From a desktop or mobile web browser:

  1. Sign in to the AOL Account security page.
  2. Click Change password.
  3. Enter a new password.
  4. Click Continue.

From most AOL mobile apps:

  1. Tap the Menu icon.
  2. Tap Manage Accounts.
  3. Tap Account info.
  4. Tap Security settings.
  5. Enter your security code.
  6. Tap Change password.
  7. Enter a new password.

If these steps don't work in your app, change your password using your mobile browser.
