Cannot send e-mail attachments or embedded files on AOL WebMail

You may not be able to send mail attachments or embedded files on AOL® WebMail for any one of several reasons. Try the solution, then check to see if you can send mail attachments or embedded files with AOL WebMail.

You may wish to print or save a copy of these instructions as this page may not remain visible as you go through the suggested steps.

Change the Spam Controls settings for e-mail content on the Web

Incorrect spam control settings for e-mail content may cause this issue.

To change the spam controls settings for e-mail content on the Web:
1. Go to www.aol.com, then click the Mail icon.
2. Type your screen name and password in the boxes provided, then click the Sign In button.
3. Click the Settings link.

4. On the left panel, click the Spam Controls tab.

5. Click the AOL Spam Filter drop-down menu, choose the appropriate settings, then click it.

Note: The recommended setting is Medium.

6. Click the Spam Filters by Address drop-down menu, choose the appropriate option, then click it.

7. Click the Block mail containing pictures or files box to place a check mark in it.

8. Next to Blocked Mail, choose the Permanently delete blocked mail or Deliver blocked mail to Spam folder option by clicking it, then click the Save button.
