AOL Video Search Family Filter

The Family Filter is intended to filter content identified as “adult” by the search technology from appearing in video search results.

By default, Family Filter is turned on for every search and only adults have the ability to turn it off. To turn off Family Filter, simply uncheck the Family Filter is On box.

If you choose to turn it off, the Family Filter remains turned off only until you close your browser window.

Note: Only General Access accounts, and unauthenticated users will have access to change the Family Filter status.

Since automated technology is used to filter adult content, there is no guarantee that all inappropriate content will be filtered. However, if you have Family Filter turned on and you see adult content in your search results, please e-mail TOSProfileReport@aol.com. The subject line of the e-mail should be “Removal.” The e-mail should contain the URL for the search results page, and the title of the video in question. The videos will be re-categorized as soon as possible, typically within 48 business hours.

How AOL® Video Search works

AOL Video Search results are powered by Truveo™ and include multimedia streams and files (Real® Media, Windows® Media, QuickTime® and Flash®) from the AOL® service, and the Web. Truveo considers a number of factors when determining whether a video is relevant to your search request. Once those factors are considered, Truveo sorts search results in the order of relevance. As these methods are not entirely foolproof, it's possible that some inappropriate videos are included among the results you see. To view more information about technologies, policies, or to submit your videos for inclusion, visit http://www.truveo.com.
