Receiving Instant Messages to Your Mobile Device with the AIM Software

You can request to have IMs you receive when you are not signed on by forwarding to your mobile phone.

Setup a Mobile Device with the AIM® software. Mobile Device requests are confirmed by sending a four-digit confirmation number to your cell phone to ensure it supports text messaging.

Note: Your wireless service provider may charge you for text messages you send and receive.

To set up a Mobile Device with the AIM® software

1. Sign on to the AIM® service.
2. On the bottom of the AIM® Buddy List window, click the Mobile Phone icon.
3. Click the Enter your 10-digit mobile phone number: box, type your cell phone number, then click the Go button.
4. Check your mobile number and make sure your mobile device is on, then click the Send button.
5. After you receive the confirmation number, in the Enter confirmation code: box, type the confirmation number you received.
6. Click the Confirm button.

Note: Ensure your phone is on. The confirmation number may take several minutes to be delivered to your phone. If you do not receive the confirmation number, IM Forwarding may not be available on your phone.

Remove your Mobile Device number from the AIM® software

To disable IM Forwarding:
1. Sign on to the AIM® service.
2. On the bottom of the AIM® Buddy List window, click the Mobile Phone icon.
3. Click the Manage My Mobile Settings button.
4. In the My Mobile Dashboard section, under Settings for this Phone, next to IM Forwarding, click the Edit button.
5. Click the IM Forwarding off option to select it.
6. Click the Save button.
