Incoming calls are routed to AOL Voicemail before they can be answered

Your incoming calls may be routed to the AOL Voicemail service before you answer them if the number of rings on your voicemail settings is set to a very low number. In voicemail settings, you have the option to set the number of rings before a call is directed to the voicemail service. If your calls are routed to the voicemail service before you can answer them, set the number of rings to a higher value.

To set the number of rings to a higher value:
1. Go to AOL Keyword: Voicemail or https://dashboard.voice.aol.com.

Note: If prompted, sign on using your registered Username and password.

2. Click the Settings link.
3. Click the Call Alerts link.
4. Under Call Handling, click to select the Show call alert and send directly to voicemail after option, and then select the number of rings from the drop-down.

Note: We recommended that you select a relatively high number.

5. Click Save.
6. Close the AOL Voicemail page. You'll now get enough time to answer a call before it is directed to the voicemail service.
