Browser/service error when accessing Pogo Games

You may be receiving a "Browser/service error" when accessing Pogo® games for any one of several reasons. Given below are some solutions to resolve this issue. After trying the first solution, check whether you can access Pogo games. If you are still unable to access Pogo games, continue using the suggested solutions until the problem is fixed.

You may wish to print or save a copy of these instructions as this page may not remain visible as you go through the suggested steps.

Information you need

You will need to know what version of the Microsoft® Windows® operating system is installed on your computer. If you do not know how to find this information, follow the instructions given in the online help article How do I determine the version of Windows I have.

Solutions


Turn on the AOL TopSpeed

Once installed, the TopSpeed technology works automatically. You do not need to change any settings to experience the enhanced browsing that the TopSpeed technology provides. The only time TopSpeed is turned off by default is if it is blocked by a firewall or there is insufficient space for the TopSpeed cache.

Note: The TopSpeed/AOL Web Graphics Compression feature on AOL® 9.0 VR is always on. It cannot be turned off or uninstalled, the AOL software will not function properly without it.

To turn on TopSpeed in AOL® Desktop, do the following:
  1. On the Browser window, click the Settings menu, and then click TopSpeed.
  2. Click the Use TopSpeed when available box to place a check mark in it.
  3. Click Save.

To turn on TopSpeed in AOL® 9.0 Security Edition, do the following:
1. On the AOL® toolbar, click Settings.
2. On the Index tab, click the Internet (Web) Options link.
3. Click the TopSpeed® tab.
4. Click to the Turn on AOL® TopSpeed® box to place a check mark in it to turn TopSpeed on.
5. Click Save.
6. Click X in the upper right to close the settings window.

To turn on TopSpeed in AOL® 9.0 SE/LE, do the following:
1. On the AOL toolbar, click Settings.
2. On the Index tab, click the Internet (Web) Options link.
3. Click the TopSpeed® tab.
4. Click the Optimize Web browsing using TopSpeed® technology box to place a check mark in it to turn TopSpeed on.
5. Click Save.
6. Click X in the upper right to close the settings window.

To turn on TopSpeed in AOL® 9.0 Optimized, do the following:
1. On the AOL toolbar, click Settings.
2. On the Index tab, click the Internet (Web) Options link.
3. Click the AOL Browser tab.
4. In the TopSpeed® - AOL Web Browser Accelerator section, turn TopSpeed on. Choose the Store Web pages I view on AOL for faster browsing option by clicking it to turn TopSpeed on.
5. Click OK.
6. Click X in the upper right to close the settings window.

To turn on TopSpeed in AOL® Suite or AOL® Explorer, do the following:
1. On the AOL Explorer window, click Tools, and then click Settings.
2. Click the TopSpeed® tab.
3. Click the Use TopSpeed when available box to place a check mark in it to turn TopSpeed on.
4. Click Save.
5. Click X in the upper right to close the settings window.

Clear cache, cookies, and history and reset Web settings

Whenever you visit certain Web sites, they will store the temporary Internet files and cookies on your computer to identify that Web site. Sometimes, these temporary Internet files and cookies can cause the issue that you are experiencing. Clearing the cache, cookies, and history can resolve many issues with the display of Web pages.

To clear cache, cookies, and history on Internet Explorer® 7.0, do the following:
1. Close any Internet browser windows that may be open on your computer.
2. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
3. In the upper-right, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset.
6. In the confirmation window, click Reset.
7. Click Close.
8. Click  OK.
9. Click X in the upper right to close the Internet Options window.
10. In the upper right, click X to close the browser window.

To clear cache, cookies, and history and reset all settings on Internet Explorer 6.0, do the following:
1. Click Start, select All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
3. In the Temporary Internet files section, click Delete Files.
4. Click the Delete all offline content box to place a check mark in it, and then click OK.
5. Click Delete Cookies.
6. Click  OK  to confirm the deletion.
7. In the History section, click Clear History.
8. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
9. Click  Programs.
10. Click Reset Web Settings.
11. Click Yes.

Note: If you do not want to reset your home page, click the Also reset my home page box to clear it.

12. Click  OK.
13. Click OK to close the Internet Options window.
14. In the upper right, click X to close the browser window.
