Status Messaging
Status messages are a great way to broadcast your thoughts and feelings to your buddies whenever you want. Simply type a message in the status message box, and then click outside the box to update the message. Your buddies are now updated with the latest on your life!
Buddy Flyout Card
The Buddy Flyout card on AIM combines a lot of cool functions that define your instant messaging experience. With the Buddy Flyout card, you can trigger IMs, e-mails and talk sessions, set alerts for yourself about a buddy, view buddy info, and also edit a buddy's details in your Buddy List® window! Expressions
Expressions are great for showing off your personality. Plus, AIM has an amazing collection of Buddy Icons, SuperBuddy® Icons, emoticons and buddy wallpapers. To begin having fun with your Expressions, click Edit, and then select Expressions. For more help with your Expressions, click here.
Buddy List Color Themes
Tired of seeing the same colors on your Buddy List every day? Try the Buddy List Color Theme and make every day a new-color day. Click the color wheel at the top of your Buddy List to choose your favorite color theme.
Mobile IM
Sending text messages to a mobile device from IM has never been easier! With AIM 6.8, you can now send text messages to your buddy's cell phone at the click of a button.

Plugins for AIM
Enhance your IM experience with plugins! Add more plugins by clicking the Get More link located at the bottom of your Buddy List. Browse through the options under Featured Developers, Most Downloaded, and Most Recently Updated. Also visit the AIM Gallery for the entire listing. After installing the plugins, you can access them by clicking the Manage link at the bottom of your Buddy List.
PC-to-PC Chat (Talk)
AIM® Talk allows you to talk to your buddies by establishing a direct connection between your PC and your buddy's PC. If you and your buddy have microphones and are using AIM 6.8, just click the Talk button in the IM window to stop typing and start talking! You can also start a talk session with a buddy by clicking the Start a talk session button in your buddy's Flyout card, which you can get to by hovering on his or her name in your Buddy List.
Live Video Chat
Using Live Video Chat, you can have live video conversations with a buddy. Click here to learn more!

Buddy Info
Buddy Info lets you personalize your profile in many ways to express your own individuality. Not only can you write messages and broadcast them to your buddies, but you can also share your favorite feeds, Web sites and photo updates by using the Buddy Updates feature in your Buddy Info window. Try it now.
Offline IM
Want to see IMs people sent to you while you were offline? It's your choice. To manage your offline IM preferences, go to the Edit menu on your Buddy List window, click Settings, and then select Offline IM.
IM Logging/History
IM Logging lets you keep a text record of all your IM or chat conversations. Never lose a conversation again! To manage your IM Logging preferences, go to the Edit menu on your Buddy List window, click Settings, and then click IM Logging. More information on IM Logging is available here.
Linked Screen Names
Want to sign in to more than one AIM® screen name at the same time? With AIM, you can! Just link your AIM screen names, and you can have more than one screen name active for IM sessions. Information on linking screen names and managing your linked screen names can be found here.
Connection Settings
If you are connecting to AIM through a proxy server, you may need to customize your connection settings. You may choose to update your settings manually, or use our Auto Configure option to have AIM automatically configure your connection. To begin managing your connection settings, go to the Edit menu on your Buddy List, click Settings, and then click Connection. More information on AIM 6.8 connection settings is here.

Looking for the quickest way to say “brb”? Try our Quick Away. Through Quick Away, you can turn your away message on or off at the click of a button. Just click the yellow notepad icon
