| AOL® Desktop allow you to choose whether to
accept messages from all users or only specific users. Note: If the images are different from what you see on your computer, you do not have the latest version of AOL® Desktop software. Please install the latest version of AOL Desktop software. How do I allow everyone to send me instant messages?
If you allow messages from everyone, even people on your Buddy List® window can send you
messages. To allow everyone to send you messages:
1. In the Buddy List window click the Edit menu, and then click Settings. 
2. Click the Privacy tab.
3. Select the Allow all users to contact me option.
4. Click Save.

1. In the Buddy List window click the Edit menu, and then click Settings.

4. Click Save.
Back to Top How do I allow only specific users to send me instant messages?You can set up a list of people who will be able to send you messages. To allow only specific users to send you messages:
1. In the Buddy List window click the Edit menu, and then click Settings.
2. Click the Privacy tab.
3. Select the Allow only the users below option. 
4. In the Allow List: box, type the screen name of the user you want to add, then click the Add button.
Note: To remove a name from your Allow List:, select the screen name you want to remove, and then click the Remove link. 
5. Click Save.
