| After installing the AOL® Desktop for Mac® software, you need to set up your connection if you want to connect using a dial-up. The AOL® software will walk you through this process the first time it is used after the installation. You may wish to print or save a copy of these instructions as this page may not remain visible as you go through the suggested steps. Setup a Dial-Up ConnectionTo set up a dial-up connection:
1. On the AOL® Desktop for Mac® Sign In screen, click the Connection drop-down menu to open it, and then click Setup Connection.
New Set Name: box, type a suitable name for the new location, and then click OK. By default, Home is the name of the location.
Dialup Setup window, click the Area Code: drop-down menu, and then select your area code.
Note: What constitutes a local call can vary widely by calling plan and phone company. For your protection, please check with your local phone company to ensure the AOL® access phone number you selected is a local call for your calling plan. Remember that members on certain plans may be charged an hourly rate for dial-up connections. Please see AOL® Keyword: My Account for details.
4. Select the appropriate access phone numbers by placing check marks in their boxes.
Dial 1? box located to the right of the of the city to place a check mark in it.
Note: Be sure to adjust your dialing options if you need to dial 1 and/or the local telephone area code before dialing the selected AOL® access phone number. If you are unsure of local dialing requirements, please contact your telephone company.
6. Click the OK button.
Sample Dialling String: displays the format in which the access phone numbers will be dialed by your modem. Click the OK button to continue.
