Send and receive e-mail on AOL Desktop for Mac

The AOL® service includes access to e-mail. You can send e-mail to AOL users and other Internet e-mail addresses using the AOL® Desktop for Mac® software. Using AOL® Mail, you can write a generic e-mail or you can spruce it up with pictures, emoticons, and signatures.

How to

Send an e-mail

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Mail icon.

2. Click Write Mail.

3. In the To box, type the e-mail address of the person to whom you want to send the e-mail. To send the same message to multiple people, simply separate each e-mail address by a comma.

Notes:

  • You can also add e-mail addresses from the Address Book by clicking your Address Book on the Write Mail window, and then dragging the appropriate e-mail addresses to the To or Cc box.
  • You can send e-mail to any AOL user by typing the screen name of the person in the To or Cc box. However, to send e-mail to people who use other e-mail applications, you must include the entire e-mail address along with the domain. Example: address@domain.com. If you leave out any part of the e-mail address, the e-mail will be returned to you undelivered.

4. In the Subject box, type a suitable subject line for your e-mail.
5. Type your message in the message box. When you have finished, click Send.
6. If you do not want to send the e-mail immediately, you can save it by clicking Save Draft.

Note: To retrieve the e-mails that you saved as drafts, go to your mailbox by clicking the Mail icon on the toolbar, and then click the Drafts folder.

If you see an e-mail that is marked in bold but has no blue dot, it means that the mail was read, and then marked as unread by clicking Mark As Unread.
