You can store email addresses, phone numbers (home, work, cellular, fax, and pager), mailing addresses (work and home), birthdays, anniversaries, and the home pages of all your friends on your Address Book in the AOL software. How to
Manually add/edit contact informationTo manually add contact information to your address book 1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Mail menu, and then click Address Book.
2. In the Address Book window, click Add.
3. The New Contact window appears. Type the first name and last name of your contact. Use the drop-down menu to the right of the Last Name box to select a category for the contact. Fill out the necessary information of your contact in the relevant boxes as explained below:
To manually edit contact information in your address book Note: Before editing the contact information of your buddy, check whether he/she has shared his/her address card with you. If your buddy has shared the address card with you, you will automatically receive updates every time your buddy updates his/her contact information. Automatic updates will override any edits that you make to your buddy's contact information. When your buddy shares his or her address card with you, an icon that looks like a white folder ( 1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Mail menu, and then click Address Book.
2. In the Address Book window, check whether the contact information that you want to edit is of a buddy who has shared his or her address card with you, and then click Edit. If the buddy has shared his or her address card with you, continue to Step 3. If not, skip to Step 4.
3. Please note that your edits to the address card will be overwritten when you buddy updates his/her address card. If you still want to edit the contact information, click Edit.
4. Edit the information under the Contact, Home, Work, or Details tab.
5. Once done, click Save. 6. Close all open windows. Add contacts to your Address Book from the emails that you receive1. Open the email that contains the email address(es) you want to add. 2. Right-click the email address, select Add to Address Book.
3. Fill out the required information in the form that appears and click Save.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each address that you want to add. 5. Close all open windows. Tip: To create a group listing, select the email addresses you want to group together, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and then click Add Address. This is possible only if the email addresses appear in the same address field (example, the To or CC fields). Type a name for the group, and then click Save.
To add a buddy to your Address Book from the Buddy List
Enable/disable the auto-add feature in your Address BookEmail addresses that you often reply, send mails, or forward mails to can be automatically added to your Address Book. To enable/disable the auto-add feature in the Address Book
2. Click the Address Book Options drop-down menu, and then click Address Book Settings.
3. If you want to enable the auto-add feature, select the check box next to Automatically add e-mail addresses to my Address Book. If not, ensure that the box is unchecked.
