Unable to download PerfectSpeed

If the PerfectSpeed installer file that you downloaded to your computer is incomplete, when you try to download or install PerfectSpeed you might get an error message such as “This is not a w32 file” or “The file is corrupted or damaged.” To fix this, delete the damaged installer file and download it again. To find out how to delete the file, first select your current Windows operating system below.

• Windows 7
• Windows Vista
• Windows XP/2000

Windows 7

1. Click on the START menu in the bottom left corner of your screen and select the Search option. In the Search Programs and Files box, type perfectspeeda.exe and hit the Enter key on your keyboard.

2. After the results display, right click the perfectspeeda.exe file and select Delete.

3. Click the X in the upper right corner of the search results window to close it.

4. Start your web browser and click on http://ftp.raxco.com/pub/download/perfectspeeda/perfectspeeda.exe or copy and paste the URL in your browser’s address bar to download a complete version of PerfectSpeed.

5. When the File Download window opens, click SAVE.

6. In the Save As window, select the location where you want to save the perfectspeeda.exe file and click SAVE.

7. On your computer, go to where you saved the perfectspeeda.exe file, find it the folder, and double-click the file.

8. Click RUN and follow the on-screen prompts to install PerfectSpeed on your computer.

Note: During the installation process, you’ll be asked for an activation code. You can find this code in the confirmation email you received when you first signed up for PerfectSpeed. If you don’t have an activation code, refer to our help article What is PerfectSpeed? and click on the FAQ “How do I get my activation code?”

Windows Vista

1. Click on the START menu in the bottom left corner of your screen and select the Search option.

2. Click the Advanced Search drop-down arrow, click the Location drop-down menu, and then select Local Hard Drives (C:).

3. Type perfectspeeda.exe in the text box and click SEARCH.

4. In the search results, right-click the perfectspeeda.exe file and select Delete. Click YES when asked to confirm.

5. Click the X in the upper right corner of the search results window to close it.

6. Start your web browser and click on http://ftp.raxco.com/pub/download/perfectspeeda/perfectspeeda.exe or copy and paste the URL in your browser’s address bar to download a complete version of PerfectSpeed.

7. When the File Download window opens, click SAVE.

8. In the Save As window, select the location where you want to save the perfectspeeda.exe file and click SAVE.

9. On your computer, go to where you saved the perfectspeeda.exe file, find it the folder, and double-click the file.

10. Click RUN and follow the on-screen prompts to install PerfectSpeed on your computer.

Windows XP/2000

1. Open the Search window:

a. For Windows XP: Click START and then click SEARCH.

b. For Windows 2000: Click START, select SEARCH, and then click FOR FILES OR FOLDERS.

2. Search for the perfectspeeda.exe file:

a. For Windows XP: Click the ALL FILES AND FOLDERS link and in the All or part of the file name box, type perfectspeeda.exe, and then click SEARCH.

b. For Windows 2000: Type perfectspeeda.exe in the Search for files or folders box and click SEARCH NOW.

3. Once the search results appear, right-click on the perfectspeeda.exe file and select Delete.

4. Click the X in the upper right corner of the search results window to close it.

5. Start your web browser and click on http://ftp.raxco.com/pub/download/perfectspeeda/perfectspeeda.exe or copy and paste the URL in your browser’s address bar to download a complete version of PerfectSpeed.

6. When the File Download window opens, click SAVE.

7. In the Save As window, select the location where you want to save the perfectspeeda.exe file and click SAVE.

8. On your computer, go to where you saved the perfectspeeda.exe file, find it the folder and double-click the file.
