Message: Suspended AIM Account

There are several reasons why you may have received the “Suspended Account” message. Here are some suggestions for resolution:

    • AIM or AOL Terms of Service were violated, such as the sending of unsolicited bulk communications. If you feel that your account was suspended in error, email TOSGeneral@aol.com or write us at
      AOL INC.
      Attention: CAT
      PO Box 65175
      Sterling, VA 20165.
    • Your AOL Username was cancelled and can no longer be used to sign in to the AIM service. This includes all Master and Secondary Usernames of the cancelled account. For information on restoring your Username, see our online help article “Can I use my account after deleting my Username.”
    • Your Username has been blocked because of outstanding billing issues with either your AOL account or an AOL Premium paid service. Please sign on with the AOL software or go to http://bill.aol.com for additional instructions to resolve any outstanding billing issues.
    • Your birth date was entered incorrectly. You must be at least 13 years old to use the AIM service. A credit card may be used to complete the age verification process. A fee of $1 will be charged and refunded; these transactions will appear on your credit card statement.
    • Parental Controls are set to block instant messages or your Username is in the Kid's Only age category and is blocked from using the AIM service. To change this setting, the Master Username on your AOL account needs to go to AOL Keyword: Parental Controls. Adjust the settings on the affected Username to allow instant messages and ensure that the age category is set to Young Teen (13-15), Mature Teen (16-17), or General (18 and older).
