Message: “ML-0006 - Message Size Too Large”

You may receive the message, "ML-0006 - Message Size Too Large" if you are trying to send too large of an attachment using the AOL® Mail software.

Solutions


Reduce the Number of Attachments

The largest piece of e-mail that you can send or accept from the Internet is 16 megabytes. This includes the message text, headers and the attachment combined. If you are sending more than one file, and the files exceed 16 MB, you will need to either compress the file or split it into smaller parts.

To reduce the number of attachments:
1. In the Attachments section of theNew Message window, click an attached file to highlight it.
2. Click the Remove button.
3. Repeat for each file you wish to detach.

Reduce the Number of Embedded Images

You can also receive this message if the size of the images you have embedded into your e-mail exceeds 16 megabytes.

To reduce the number of embedded images:
1. In the New Message window, right click an image you wish to remove from the e-mail, then clickDelete.
2. Repeat for each image you wish to remove.

Send Files Through AIM Triton

If the file is too large to send by e-mail, you can exchange files with your buddies through the AIM Triton software. Both you and your buddy must be online to exchange files.

To send files through AIM Triton:
1. Send an IM to your buddy.
2. Click the File tab.
3. Click the Send File button, then navigate to the file you wish to send.
4. Click the Send button. Once your buddy accepts the transfer, the file will be sent.
5. Once the file has finished transferring, click the End button to stop the Send/Receive File session.
