Editions FAQs

Editions by AOL is a beautiful, new, daily magazine that reads you. It learns what you like (and what you don’t) and delivers a magazine that’s personalized just for you, each and every day. With Editions, you spend less time searching and more time reading what interests you.

How do I assemble my an Edition?

  1. Open the Editions app.
  2. On the Connect screen, connect your Facebook, Twitter, or AOL accounts to begin personalizing your Editions and to easily share articles with your friends. For more information on why you should connect your social networks, please visit our help article Why should I connect my social networks in Editions?
  3. Tap Next.
  4. Time to personalize your Editions! At the top, enter your first and last name in the boxes provided and then enter your zip code in the box provided to receive the best local news from your neighborhood.

  6. Under 'Personalize Your Cover', tap the colors that you want your Editions to come in.
  7. ””

  8. Under 'Sections', pick the sections you want in your Editions. The 'My Sections' box contains the sections you'll see in your Editions, while the 'Additional Sections' box contains sections that won't be included in your Editions, but they can be added. To add or remove a section, tap and hold the name of the section and drag it to the appropriate box. You can also rearrange the order of your sections by tapping, holding, and dragging a section to a desired spot.
  9. In the top right, tap I'm Done - Make My First Edition.

How do I connect my social networks (Facebook/Twitter/Etc.) in Editions?

You can connect your Social Network account when first setting up Editions or, if you decided to skip it the first time around, you can connect it later under Settings. We’ll show you how to do both.

  1. Open the Editions app.
  2. On the Connect screen, tap Connect to Facebook. (Or Twitter, or another social network)
  3. ””

  4. In the window that appears, enter your login information in the appropriate boxes by tapping the Email or Phone box and the Password box, and then tap Log In.
  5. ””

    You’ll be redirect back to the Connect screen and you’ll see ‘Connected!’ and a green check mark next to the social network logo verifying that you were able to successfully connect.

Connect your social network account later

  1. Open the Editions app.
  2. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to pull up main navigation menu.
  3. ””

  4. In the main navigation menu, tap Settings.
  5. ””

  6. In the left panel, tap Social Networks.
  7. ””

  8. Under 'Facebook', tap Connect your Facebook account. This can be done the same way for Twitter or another social network.
  9. In the window that appears, enter your login information in the appropriate boxes by tapping the Email or Phone box and the Password box, and then tap Log In.

Your social network account is now connected in Editions. What are you waiting for? Start sharing the great articles in your Edition!

How do I share an article from my social networks in Editions?

Dying to share that great article you just read in your Edition? With just a few taps, you can share any article in your Edition with your friends on Facebook.

To share an article from your Edition on a social network:

  1. Tap the article that you’d like to share.
  2. In the top left corner, tap the Send To button.
  3. Note: Some articles have a Send To button below the title of the article.

  4. In the Send To menu, tap the social network you'd like to share with.
  5. ””

  6. The title of the article will appear as the message in the message field. To edit the message text, tap the message field.
  7. Note: You can post the message to your Facebook wall, or, if you belong to a group (or groups), you can tap a group under GROUPS to share with that group.

  8. When ready, tap POST to share on your chosen social network.

That’s it! Now sit back and wait for the Comments and Likes to start rolling in!

What are Keywords in Editions? How do I like them?

Keywords help Editions read you. By using, Keywords, you help Editions learn what you like and what you don’t.

Every article contains Keywords, which act like tags to help identify the topic and subject of each article. Read the article in full view to see a list of Keywords associated with it.The more you use Keywords, the more Editions learns your interests and is able to curate a magazine just for you.

To like a Keyword:

  1. Tap a headline of an article to read it in full view.
  2. A list of Keywords will appear under the source. Tap the check mark next to the Keyword(s) that you want to see more of.

That’s it! You can see a list of all the Keywords you’ve liked under Profile in the main navigation.

How do I remove a Keyword from my profile in Editions?

Removing a Keyword that you’ve added to your Profile is a snap.

  1. Open the Editions app.
  2. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation.
  3. ””

  4. In the main navigation menu, tap Profile.
  5. ””

  6. Under 'Interests' is the list of Keywords that you’ve liked. To remove a Keyword, tap the name of the Keyword. It’ll turn from green to blue, and then slowly fade away.

  8. In the top right, tap the X to close your Profile.

The Keyword has been removed and you won’t see any more articles with that Keyword in future Editions.

How do I bookmark an article?

Don’t have time to read an article? No problem. Bookmark it to your Profile and read it later.

To bookmark an article to your Profile:

  1. Tap the article that you’d like to bookmark.
  2. In the top left corner, tap the Send To button.
  3. Note: Some articles have a Send To button below the title of the article.

  4. In the Send To menu, tap BOOKMARK ARTICLE.

  6. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation.

  8. In the main navigation menu, tap Profile.
  9. ””

  10. At the top, tap the BOOKMARKED ARTICLES button.
  11. ””

  12. Tap the headline to read the article in full view.
  13. Note: You can bookmark up to 50 articles.

How do I save an article to Instapaper or Read it Later?

Now you can read articles on your time.

Saving articles from your Editions to Instapaper for offline reading is a snap.

Note: What's Instapaper? It's a paid app in the App Store that allows you to save articles and read them offline (no internet connection required).

  1. Tap the Send To button on the article that you'd like to save to Instapaper or ReadItLater.
  2. ””

  3. In the "Send To" menu, tap Instapaper or Read it Later.
  4. ””

That's it! Open the Instapaper or Read It Later app and you'll see the article you just sent. Happy reading!

How do I delete old Editions?

  1. Tap and hold on the cover of the Edition you want to delete.
  2. Tap the small X in the upper right corner.
  3. ””

Voila! It's gone. You can remove any past Edition, just not your current one :)

How do I add or remove a section in Editions?

Interested in the latest travel news and tips? Add the Travel Section and get the best travel news stories in your next Edition. With 16 different Sections to choose from, you decide what you want in your Editions.

  1. Open the Editions app.
  2. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation.
  3. ””

  4. In the main navigation menu, tap Settings.
  5. ””

  6. In the left panel, tap Sections.
  7. ””

  8. Under 'Additional Sections', tap Add a New Section.
  9. ””

  10. Tap the Sections that you’d like to add.
  11. Once you've added all the sections you want, in the top right corner, tap Done.
  12. To close the Settings menu, in the top left corner, tap Close.

Note: To remove a section select edit and then tap the minus sign (-) next to the section you want to delete. Select delete once again to confirm, and then select done in the top right corner of the settings menu.

The next time Editions delivers you a new magazine, you’ll see the Sections you just added. Enjoy!

Have a favorite news source? Add it and you’ll start seeing it in your Editions.

How do I add or remove a source in Editions?

  1. Open the Editions app.
  2. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation.
  3. ””

  4. In the main navigation menu, tap Profile.
  5. ””

  6. Under 'Sources', in the box provided, enter the name of the source you’d like to add.
  7. ””

  8. Once added, it’ll show up in green under Sources.
  9. ””

  10. In the top right, tap X to close the Profile menu.

You’ll start seeing articles from your favorite source in the coming Editions. If your source isn’t in our database, hang tight, we’re always looking to add new sources in Editions.

Note: To remove a source, select the name of the source you want to delete. It will turn from green to blue and then slowly fade away. Select the X in the top right to close the profile menu. That's it.

How do I jump to a particular section in Editions?

Eager to read the latest travel news but hate swiping through your Edition just to get to the Travel section? Jump right to your favorite section with just a few simple taps.

To jump to a particular section in Editions:

  1. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation menu.
  2. ””

  3. In the main navigation menu, tap Sections.
  4. ””

  5. Swipe horizontally to see all the sections in your Edition.
  6. Tap the section that you'd like to jump to.

Problem and Error FAQs

What do I do if the Editions app crashes or freezes?

Yikes! Did the Editions app crash or freeze? Let us know and we’ll get working on the problem.

To report that Editions has crashed:

  1. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation.
  2. ””

  3. In the main navigation menu at the bottom, click Feedback.
  4. ””

  5. In the Feedback window, tap Oh no! The app crashed!
  6. ””

  7. In the box provided, please let us know what happened when the app crashed and then tap Send.

To unfreeze the Editions app:

  1. Click your iPad Home button to exit the app.
  2. Double-click the Home button to show the multi-tasking bar.
  3. ””

  4. Tap and hold the Editions app icon until it jiggles.
  5. Tap the minus sign (-) at the top left corner of the Editions logo to quit the app.
  6. ””

That should do the trick. You should now be able to restart Editions. Enjoy!

Why can't I add a source in Editions?

We’ve scoured the web and added thousands of the best news sources to the Editions database. But with so many sites out there, we may have missed one or two.

If there’s a site that we missed, please let us know through the Feedback menu in the bottom navigation. We appreciate hearing from you!

What do I do if I receive an article in the wrong section?

  1. At the bottom of the page, tap the ^ arrow to access the main navigation.
  2. ””

  3. In the main navigation menu at the bottom, click Feedback.

  5. In the Feedback window, tap There’s a problem with an article.
  6. ””

  7. Tap the circle next to Wrong section.
  8. ””

  9. At the bottom of the window, click Send.
  10. Note: If you'd like to add a comment (we love hearing from you!), tap Add Comment.
