Hyatt Legal Plans FAQs

Members who upgrade their account to the AOL Advantage Premium Plus, AOL Total Advantage, or AOL Total Advantage Plus plans will be covered for the preparation of Wills and updating of Wills. These services are provided by Hyatt Legal Plans, a MetLife company1. Hyatt Legal Plans attorneys will also provide legal consultations on personal legal matters to advise members on their rights, point out their options and recommend a course of action. This valuable benefit exclusive to this plan provides members with the following benefits2:

  • Unlimited face-to-face consultations and telephone advice from local participating attorneys on personal legal matters
  • Preparation or updating of your Wills including testamentary trusts
  • Unlimited updates to your Wills
  • Out-of Network option – if you choose to use your own attorney, you will be reimbursed according to a published fee schedule
  • Your spouse/domestic partner and unmarried children under the age of 21 are also covered for the above services

Hyatt Legal Plans has over 35 years of experience providing legal plans and is managed by attorneys. The participating attorney network has over 11,500 attorneys with an average of over 25 years of experience.

Am I eligible for services provided by Hyatt Legal Plans?

If you upgrade to the AOL Advantage Premium Plus, AOL Total Advantage, or AOL Total Advantage Plus plans, you are eligible for complimentary Will preparations, updates and legal consultations from Hyatt Legal Plans.

How do I take advantage of the services provided by Hyatt Legal Plans?

If you've upgraded to AOL Advantage Premium Plus, AOL Total Advantage, or AOL Total Advantage Plus plans, look for an email for information on how to activate your Hyatt Legal services. Once activated, you will receive a personal Hyatt Legal Plans membership number that you can use to call Hyatt Legal Plans toll-free to start taking advantage of all your great benefits immediately.

How long does the Hyatt Legal Plans benefit last?

Once you’ve activated your Hyatt Legal Plans benefit, you will have continued access to this service for as long as you remain on your AOL Total Advantage plan1. If you move to an AOL service plan that does not offer Hyatt Legal Plans as a benefit, you will lose the service. This also applies if you cancel AOL or move to a Free AOL account.

What is included in the benefits from Hyatt Legal Plans?

Hyatt Legal Plans benefit covers the attorney’s fees for the preparation of Wills, updating of Wills and legal consultations on personal legal matters to advise members on their rights, point out their options and recommend a course of action. This valuable benefit provides members with the following benefits:

  • Unlimited face-to-face consultations and telephone advice from local participating attorneys on personal legal matters
  • Preparation or updating of your Wills including testamentary trusts
  • Unlimited updates to your Wills
  • Out-of Network option – if you choose to use your own attorney, you will be reimbursed according to a published fee schedule
  • Your spouse/domestic partner and unmarried children under the age of 21 are also covered for the above services

Hyatt Legal Plans has over 35 years of experience providing legal plans and is managed by attorneys. The participating attorney network has over 11,500 and attorneys have an average of over 25 years of experience. Preparation of a Will could cost anywhere between $200-$8003, but with the AOL Total Advantage plan, you get it as part of your membership plan at no additional cost.

Can more than one person take advantage of services provided by Hyatt Legal Plans?

Your spouse/domestic partner and unmarried children under the age of 21 are also eligible to take advantage of the following services provided by Hyatt Legal Plans for as long as you maintain an eligible AOL Advantage plan:

  • Unlimited face-to-face consultations and telephone advice from local participating attorneys on personal legal matters
  • Preparation or updating of your Wills including testamentary trusts
  • Unlimited updates to your Wills
  • Out-of Network option – if you choose to use your own attorney, you will be reimbursed according to a published fee schedule

2 Excluded Services- No services (including consultations) will be provided for: 1) employment-related matters, including company or statutory benefits; 2) membership related or matters involving AOL, MetLife® and affiliates, and plan attorneys; 3) matters in which there is a conflict of interest between the primary member and spouse or dependents, in which case services are excluded for the spouse and dependents; 4) appeals and class actions; 5) farm and business matters, including rental issues when the participant is the landlord; 6)patent, trademark or copyright matters; 7) costs or fines; 8)frivolous or unethical matters; and 9) matters for which an attorney-client relationship exists prior to the participant becoming eligible for services.
