How do I reset IMAP settings?

For instructions on how to reset the IMAP settings on your email program, click the appropriate link below:

To configure your AOL email in Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003

1. Click Start, select Programs or All Programs, select Microsoft Office, and then click Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click email Accounts.

3. Click the View or change existing email accounts option, and then click Next.

4. Click your email account, and then click Change.

5. Click More Settings.

6. Click the Advanced tab.

7. In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, type 587, and then click OK.

8. Click Next.

9. Click Finish.


To configure your AOL email in Outlook Express or Outlook 2000

1. Start Outlook Express.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.

3. Click the Mail tab.

4. Click your account to highlight it, and then click Properties.

5. Click the Servers tab.

6. Select the check box next to My server requires authentication, and then click Apply.

7. Click the Advanced tab.

8. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type 587, and then click Apply.

9. Click OK.

10. Click Close.


To configure AOL or AIM email account using Thunderbird for Windows

1. On the desktop, double-click the Mozilla Thunderbird icon.

2. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

3. In the left pane of the Account Settings window, click Server Settings.

4. In the Security Settings section, ensure that the Use secure authentication check box is clear.

5. In the left pane of the Account Settings window, click Outgoing Server (SMTP).

6. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings section, select the outgoing server, and then click Edit.

7. In the Description box, type AOL Account; in the Port box, type 587. Ensure that the Use secure connection option is set to No.

8. Click OK to close the SMTP Server window.

9. Click OK to close the Account Settings window.


To configure AOL or AIM email account using Thunderbird for Mac

1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.

2. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

3. In the left pane of the Account Settings window, click Server Settings.

4. In the Security Settings section, ensure that the Use secure authentication check box is clear.

5. In the left pane of the Account Settings window, click Outgoing Server (SMTP).

6. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings section, select the outgoing server, and then click Edit.

7. In the Description box, type AOL Account; in the Port box, type 587. Ensure that the Use secure connection option is set to No.

8. Click OK to close the Settings window.

9. Click OK to close the Account Settings window.
