Does my email application uses IMAP or POP3?

Wondering if your email client (Outlook, Entourage, Mac Mail, etc.) uses IMAP or POP3? No sweat, here's how to find out.

To find out if your email application uses IMAP or POP3:

1. Open the email application.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Account Settings or Email Accounts.

3. Under Type:

• if you have IMAP/SMTP, then your email application uses IMAP
• if you have POP/SMTP, then your email application uses POP3

4. Click Close.
