How do I reconfigure Eudora to access AOL Mail?

If you're having issues sending or receiving AOL Mail using Eudora, check whether your Eudora software settings match those that are explained below.

To repair Eudora to send or receive AOL Mail:

1. Launch the Eudora software.

Note: If Eudora is not your default mail program, you may be prompted to specify whether you want Eudora as your default mail program.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Personalities.

3. Right-click the Persona name corresponding to the email address you are facing issues with, and then click Properties.

4. In the Generic Properties tab, confirm your account settings as mentioned below.

• Real Name: Ensure that your name is entered as you would like it to appear on your outgoing email messages.
• Email Address: Check whether you've entered your correct email address, e.g., michealmarvel@aol.com.
• User Name: Verify whether your Username corresponds with the above email address.
• SMTP Server: Verify that you've entered smtp.aol.com.
• Authentication allowed: Ensure that this box is selected.

5. Verify the following in the Incoming Mail tab, and then click OK.

• If you are using POP3, verify that you have entered pop.aol.com in the Server box and selected POP next to Configuration.

  

• If you are using IMAP, verify that you have entered imap.aol.com in the Server box and selected IMAP next to Configuration.

  

Note: AOL Mail supports both POP3 and IMAP, but we recommend you use IMAP. To learn more about the differences between POP3 and IMAP, please visit our help article What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?

If you are still unable to access your AOL Mail using Eudora, please delete the Persona you're having issues with and create a new persona. To delete a Persona, right-click the Persona name corresponding to the email address you're facing issues with, and then click Delete.

IMPORTANT: You cannot delete your Dominant persona.
