How do I set up Microsoft Entourage to access my AOL Mail?

You can send or receive your AOL Mail on Microsoft Entourage.

To configure your AOL Mail account in Microsoft Entourage:

1. Launch the Entourage software.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.

3. On the Accounts window that appears, click the New icon.

4. In the New Account window that opens, choose the account type from the Account type drop down menu.

Note: AOL Mail supports both POP3 and IMAP, but we recommend you use IMAP. To learn more about the differences between POP3 and IMAP, please visit our help article What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?

5. In the Edit Account window, click the Account Settings tab, and then enter your account name in the Account name box.

6. Under Personal information, enter your name in the Name box and your AOL email address in the E-mail address box.

7. Under Receiving mail, enter the following

  • Your AOL Username in the Account ID box.
  • imap.aol.com in the IMAP server box or pop.aol.com in the POP server box, depending on the server that you have chosen.
  • Your AOL password in the Password box.

Note: If you want Entourage to save your AOL password, select the check box next to Save password in my Mac OS keychain.

8. Under Sending mail, enter smtp.aol.com in the SMTP server box.

9. Click OK. You can now send and receive emails

If you have selected the IMAP server, perform the following additional steps

10. Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.

11. On the Accounts window, select the account that you have created.

12. On the Edit Account window, click the Advanced tab.

13. Under Special folders, ensure that the check box next to Store sent messages in this IMAP folder is selected, and then choose Sent Items from the drop down menu.

14. Click OK.

15. Close the Accounts window.

You have now successfully created your AOL or AIM email account for Microsoft Entourage.
