How do I set up Eudora to access AOL Mail?

You will need an existing AOL Mail account before setting up Eudora to access your mail.

To configure Eudora to access your AOL Mail:

1. Launch the Eudora software.


  • If you are using Eudora for the first time, you may be prompted to configure Eudora to set up a new email account. In this case, click Next, and then skip to .

  • If Eudora is not your default mail program, you may be prompted to specify whether Eudora as your default program.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Personalities. (You can set up multiple personalities - work, home, and school - for each email account you have.)

3. Right-click any name under the Persona column, and then click New.

4. On the Account Settings window, select Create a brand new email account and then click Next.

5. On the Personality Name window, enter a name (e.g., work, home, or school) for your account in the Personality Name box and then click Next. Ensure that the name you choose clearly defines your AOL account.

6. On the Personal Information window, enter your name in the Your Name box as you would like it to appear on your outgoing email messages and then click Next.

7. On the Email Address window, enter your full email address,e.g.,, in the Email Address box, and then click Next.

8. On the User Name window, enter your Username in the User Name box, and then click Next.

9. On the Incoming Email Server window, enter the server details, and then click Next.

Note: AOL Mail supports both POP3 and IMAP, but we recommend you use IMAP. To learn more about the differences between POP3 and IMAP, please visit our help article What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?

  • If you are using POP3, type in the Incoming Server box, and then select POP.
  • If you are using IMAP, type in the Incoming Server box, and then select IMAP.

10. On the Outgoing Email Server window, type in the Outgoing Server box, select the Allow Authentication box, and then click Next.

11. On the Success window, click Finish. That's it. Congratulations!
