Request a return receipt for email sent to AOL members in AOL 9.0, 9.1

While sending emails using the AOL 9.0 or 9.1 software, you can request for a notification when the email sent by you is read. This notification is known as return receipt. The return receipt feature, however, is only available for email addresses ending in '@aol.com,' and not for any other email addresses.

Note: This feature is not available in the AOL Desktop Software versions released after AOL 9.0 (AOL 9.5, 9.6, 9.7, 10.1, etc) or in AOL Mail for the Web. If you use an older version of the AOL Desktop software you can download the latest edition by going to AOL Keyword: Upgrade. Request a return receipt

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Write icon.

2. Compose your email.

3. At the bottom of the Write Mail window, click the Request "Return Receipt" or Request return receipt from AOL members check box.

4. Click Send Now or Send Later.

You'll soon receive an email notifying you that the recipient opened the email you sent.
