AOL Dialer starts automatically

If you get an AOL® Dialer popup at random, even when you do not wish to connect to the Internet, you can disable the AOL Dialer from starting automatically. Listed below are some solutions to resolve the issue. After trying the first solution, if the problem remains, continue using the suggested solutions until the problem is fixed.

Disable AOL Dialer auto start options

1. On the Windows® taskbar next to the clock, right-click the AOL® icon, select Connectivity, and then click AOL Dialer Settings.

2. Uncheck the Start AOL Dialer when I turn on my computer and no connection is detected box.

Configure Microsoft Internet Explorer to Never dial a connection

The Microsoft Windows operating system allows you to set one application as default to eliminate inconvenient steps to access the Internet. The instructions given below describe how you can disable the AOL Dialer auto-dial feature in Internet Explorer® in order to facilitate the use of the AOL software to access the Internet.

1. Double-click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, click Start, select Programs or All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.

2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.

3. Click the Connections tab.

4. In the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings box, select America Online to highlight it, select the Never dial a connection option, and then click OK.
