Information You Need

You will need to know the version of the Microsoft Windows operating system installed on your computer. You can find this information by following the steps given in the online help article How do I determine the version of Windows I have?

Delete Address Book Files

Some Address Book files of the screen name may have been damaged. When these files are deleted, the AOL software automatically creates new ones. This will not delete the addresses in your Address Book, just the files linking the Address Book on your computer to the Address Book stored on the AOL servers.

The following steps will delete the Address Book contents from your hard drive. However, when you sign on to the AOL service, they will automatically be replaced.

For instructions on how to delete the Address Book files, refer to our online help article Delete AOL Address Book files.
