Overview of the updated AOL app experience for Android

The new version of the AOL app gives instant access to great features you love about AOL Mail. Organize and filter your emails, add multiple accounts, read the news, watch videos, compose customized emails, and more, without leaving the app.

Access Contacts

To access your full Contact List:

1. Tap the More iconTip icon.
2. Tap Contacts
3. Tap A-Z or Business.

Manage signature

1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Scroll down | tap Signatures.
4. Tap the toggle next to Include signature in new messages and enter your signature.
5. To customize a signature for each account, tap Customize for each account and select the account to enter your signature.

Manage notifications

Enable notifications

1. Tap the Profile Icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap on Notifications.
3. Under Enable Notifications for | select the three options: All messages features, Just the message categories I choose, or None.

Customize your mail notifications

1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap Notifications.
3. Under Enable Notifications for, tap to enable or disable notifications for All messages & features or Just the message categories I choose.
4. If you select Just the message categories I choose, toggles to enable the types of notifications you'd like to receive.

Enable News notifications

1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap Notifications.
3. Tap the toggles under News to enable the types of news you'd like to receive notifications for.

Switch between accounts

1. Tap on your profile icon in the top left.
2. Tap on the account you wish to view.

Switch to a unified inbox

The AOL app is honoring your desktop selection to have old mail and new mail separated. To change this view, go to your settings on a computer:

1. Go to mail.aol.com.
2. Once signed in, click on Options in the upper right corner.
3. Select Mail Settings.
4. On the general settings tab, in inbox setting click the radial button next to Use Unified Inbox Style.
5. Click Save Settings at the bottom.

You may need to sign out of the app and then sign back in to reset the app settings. This can be done by:

1. Tap on the AOL icon in the upper right.
2. Tap on Manage Accounts.
3. Click the slider to turn off the account.
4. Tap the slider again to turn back on the account in the app.

Create and manage folders

To change folders, tap on the folder name in the lower left corner. Scroll through the list to select the folder you wish to view.

Create a folder

1. Tap the Inbox icon.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu.
3. Tap Create new folder Image for the New folder icon..
4. Enter a new folder name.
5. Tap Save.

Delete a folder

A folder must be empty to be deleted.

1. Tap the Inbox icon.
2. Tap and hold on the folder you want to delete.
3. Tap Delete.
4. Tap OK.

Empty your trash/spam folder

1. Tap on the current folder name in the lower left.
2. Scroll down to the trash or spam folder.
3. Tap the Trash Icon Image of the trash icon..
4. Tap on OK to delete.

Rename a folder

1. Tap the Inbox icon.
2. Tap and hold on the folder you want to rename.
3.Tap Rename.
4. Enter a new folder name and click Ok.

Switch between folders

1. Tap the folder name in the lower left corner.
2. Scroll through the list to select the folder to view.
3. Tap on the folder name.

Create a subfolder

1. Tap the Inbox icon.
2. Tap and hold on the folder you want to add a subfolder.
3. Tap Create Subfolder.
4. Enter a new folder name then click Ok.

Add or remove email account

Sign in to an AOL Mail account

1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap Manage Accounts.
3. Tap Add Account.
4. Enter your email address and password.

Sign out of an AOL Mail account

1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap Manage Accounts.
3. Tap Edit.
4. Beside your account, tap Remove.
5. Tap Remove again to confirm.

Enable Face/Touch ID/Passcode

1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left.
2. Tap Settings| Under Accounts Security, click Security.
3. Tap the toggles next to Account Changesor App unlock.

Switch to the new version of the AOL app

Users who have automatic updates enabled on their device will be updated automatically to the new AOL app experience.

Turn automatic updates on

1. On your device, open the Google Play Store.
2. Click your profile icon on the top right | Click Settings.
3. Tap on Netwok preferences and Auto-update apps.
4. Choose Over any network or Over Wi-Fi only.
5. Tap Done.

Write, reply to, forward, and delete mail

Write an email

1. From the Inbox view, tap the Compose IconImage of the Compose Icon.
2. Add contacts in the "To" field.
3. Enter a short description in the Subject field.
4. Enter your message in the body of the email.
5. Tap Send.

Reply to or forward an email

1. Tap an email or conversation to open it.
2. Tap on Forward or More option.

ReplyImage of the Reply icon.- Reply to the sender.
Reply All Image of the Reply all icon. - Reply to everyone on the email.
ForwardImage of the Forward icon. - Send a copy of the email to someone else.

3. Compose your message and tap Send.

Delete an email

To delete an email in the app, there are a few options:

1. From the message list, swipe to the left on a message to delete.
2. Tap on a message to open it and then tap the trash can icon in the lower left.

To delete multiple messages simultaneously:

1. Tap the icon to the left of the sender's name on each message to delete. This will show the selection squares for all of the list.
2. Tap the trash icon in the lower left.
