Why does Bing open when I go to my Mail?

This appears to be prompted by the Bing Search Toolbar.

Do you have the Bing Search Toolbar installed on your Browser? If so, our advice is to uninstall it. Here’s how:

  1.  Click the Tools menu and click Add-ons.

  2.  Find ‘Bing Search Toolbar’ in this list and click Disable or Uninstall.

Internet Explorer:

  1.  Click the Tools menu and click Internet Options.

  2.  In the window that opens, click the Programs tab, then click Manage Add-ons.

  3.  In the ‘Search Providers’ group, make sure that Bing is not set as your default search provider (listed under Status); if it is, choose another search provider and click Set as default.

  4.  Select Bing and click Remove.

Is Bing still opening when you go to Mail? If so, you may have the Bing Search Toolbar installed separately from your browsers.

On your PC, here’s how to check (and remove it if you’ve got it):

  1.  Click Start and then click Run...

  2.  Type Control Panel into the dialog box that pops up (or click Control Panel if a menu opens up).

  3.  Select Add or Remove Programs. When the list of installed programs loads, check for ‘Bing Search Toolbar.’ If you see it, click Remove to uninstall it.
