What is DataMask by AOL?

DataMask by AOL is a simple and secure software that disguises your personal data from cyber crooks and threatening websites by hiding your keystrokes (anti-keylogging) and diverting you away from sites designed to steal and use your personal information (anti-phishing). Is DataMask by AOL free?

DataMask by AOL is included in certain AOL Advantage Plans at no additional cost.

Am I eligible for DataMask?

Certain AOL Advantage Plans are eligible for DataMask by AOL. To view what your AOL Advantage Plan has to offer, check out your personalized AOL MyBenefits page at mybenefits.aol.com.

How do I download and install DataMask by AOL?

To download DataMask by AOL, visit datamask.aol.com and click Download Now. For step-by-step installation instructions, visit our article Installing DataMask by AOL.

Alternatively, you can activate DataMask by AOL from mybenefits.aol.com. Simply sign in with your Username or Email and Password. Next, locate the DataMask by AOL plan feature and then click Download Now. Follow the on-screen instructions to begin installing.

How does DataMask by AOL work?

Once downloaded, DataMask by AOL uses patent-protected technology to hook into your computer browser protecting data entry on all webpages—at all times. DataMask by AOL protects all browsers, including the AOL Desktop browser.

• Anti-keylogging – DataMask by AOL keeps you protected by replacing your actual keystrokes with fake, random keystrokes produced by the Scrambler. This disguises your data so cyber crooks and threatening websites can’t even read it.
• Anti-phishing – DataMask by AOL proactively diverts you away from phishing sites (websites designed to steal your personal information) so you won't be tricked into giving away your usernames and passwords.

Will DataMask by AOL work on my computer?

DataMask by AOL works on Windows XP Service Pack 3, at least 512MB RAM, a 233 MHz processor or higher, and a 32 or 64bit operating system. For browsers, DataMask by AOL supports Internet Explorer 6 or higher or FireFox 3 or higher.

Can I use DataMask by AOL on more than one computer?

You can install DataMask by AOL on an unlimited number of PCs.

How do I get customer support for DataMask by AOL?

For DataMask by AOL technical support, email datamaskhelp@aol.com. Emails will be answered within one business day.

What happens to my DataMask by AOL benefit if I change my AOL Advantage Plan or cancel my AOL account?

Only certain AOL Advantage Plans are eligible for DataMask by AOL. If you decide change your AOL Advantage Plan to one that does not include DataMask by AOL, but would like to continue using DataMask by AOL, you can purchase a monthly subscription of DataMask by AOL from AOL’s Lifestore.

If you choose to cancel your AOL membership, this will also cancel DataMask by AOL. If the cancellation is pending your next billing date, DataMask by AOL will remain active until the cancellation of your AOL account is complete.
